About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as an Airlock Coordinator. This role is critical to maintaining trust for participants and patients who have entrusted us with their data, while enabling valuable genomic research.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the day-to-day function of the Airlock system, responding to requests from researchers worldwide to export data from and import data into the Genomics England Trusted Research Environments.
  • Apply decision-making criteria to ensure accurate decision-making regarding requests, and ensure that the exportation of potentially identifiable data cannot occur.
  • Assist in recording the usage of the Airlock system using archive spreadsheets, generating insights to improve the future system.
  • Provide support to research environment squads in the iteration of the Genomics England research environments with insights from how the Airlock systems are being used by researchers.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Work with the Airlock team and Airlock Committee, as well as members of the clinical team, bioinformatics team, system developers, and external professionals to provide optimal end-to-end support for the Airlock functionality.
  • Assist in the maintenance, updating, and improvement of the software used to provide the Airlock system.
  • Assist in the maintenance, updating, and improvement of Airlock-related documentation, both internal and user-facing.
Requirements
  • Enthusiastic learner with a desire to understand and apply legal requirements related to data protection.
  • Knowledge of genetics, enabling a grasp of fundamental concepts in requests.
  • Computer literacy using Excel, managing JIRA tickets, and contributing to database management, including data input and ensuring accuracy.
  • Strong communication skills to work effectively with researchers, internal and external stakeholders, organize committee meetings, and communicate rejections to requests.
  • Basic programming skills (R, Python, and/or Unix terminal preferable), or knowledge of bioinformatics, which can be taught in role.
Qualifications

Genetics-related qualification or equivalent experience.
