Job Summary

The Defence College of Support (DCSp) is a leading provider of training to the UK Armed Forces, delivering courses in Supply, Distribution, Driving, Catering, Policing & Guarding, and Personnel Administration. As a Chef Instructor, you will play a critical role in training and preparing catering personnel across a wide range of culinary skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality training to military chefs, ensuring they are fully prepared for their future roles.
  • Develop and optimize courses to maintain relevance in an ever-changing environment.
  • Evaluate and amend lesson plans to ensure effective learning outcomes.
  • Conduct practical lessons, demonstrations, and lectures in various locations.
  • Assess and provide feedback to students, both orally and in writing.
  • Evaluate equipment and recipes in the context of course requirements.
  • Comply with relevant food policies and regulations.
  • Carry out invigilator duties for internal and external examinations.

Person Specification

We are seeking a forward-thinking, proactive individual with a Culinary Skills Qualification (GNVQ Level 3 or equivalent). Experience in teaching and training is essential, as is the ability to communicate effectively with students of varying ranks and grades. A Certificate of Education or equivalent is advantageous, as is knowledge of Food Safety and Nutrition.
