Job Title: Senior Commercial Manager

Role: Senior Commercial Manager

Location: Reading (minimum 2 days)

Salary: Circa £650 p/d outside IR35, depending on experience

Job Summary:

The Senior Commercial Manager will be responsible for managing the day-to-day commercial needs of our projects. This includes providing expert advice and guidance in contract management and commercial performance, ensuring key performance metrics are built into contracts to assure delivery while capturing early warnings, monitoring, and building robust action plans, resolving issues, and mitigating risks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage Contract Development and Performance Management with a focus on drafting NEC contract terms to meet business and scope requirements of the Commercial Strategy.
  • Work with Commercial to understand the Strategy and ensure alignment with business objectives.
  • Work with legal to assure and publish contracts, ensuring compliance with all legislative and contract requirements.
  • Provide centre of excellence for NEC Contract Intelligence, Cost Intelligence, Performance Management, and Contract Management.
  • Act as Commercial Performance Manager (Supplier Performance) and agree KPIs to drive performance standards enabling supplier delivery and success.
  • Create a performance culture of risk management and financial control, ensuring all processes, procedures, and negotiations are managed effectively.
  • Build relationships to translate needs and foster collaboration and cooperation with internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 10-15 years of experience working within a Commercial/Contract Management role.
  • Excellent knowledge of the NEC Suite of Contracts.
  • Excellent knowledge of commercial and financial principles, with the ability to analyze and interpret financial data.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills to effectively liaise with internal and external clients and stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational abilities, with the capacity to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Understanding of risk analysis and management, with the ability to resolve problems at an early stage.
  • Ability to travel when required throughout the UK to attend site visits, project meetings, etc.
