Job Purpose

The Store Operations Manager will assist with the management of MVLS stores operatives, directly reporting to the MVLS Stores Manager. The post holder is responsible for supervising the indoor processing team, working closely with the outdoor delivery team leader and the shared stores operatives team to ensure an effective and efficient service. Main Duties and Responsibilities
  1. To lead the team within MVLS stores, meeting customer expectations by ensuring tasks are carried out in a timely manner and that resources are utilised in the best possible way.
  2. To deputise in the absence of the stores management team, coordinating the work of the team and ensuring an effective and efficient service is maintained.
  3. To manage the team, ensuring that all daily tasks are completed in a timely manner and in accordance with stores processes and university policy.
  4. To ensure team compliance with university policies and procedures and with all relevant legislation and regulations.
  5. To receive, process and distribute goods directly to the bench top in a timely and appropriate manner, involving ongoing dialogue with the team leader (logistics) to ensure the needs of research and teaching staff are met.
  6. To motivate and inspire the team by example, displaying behaviours that are consistent with this work ethic.
  7. To order stores stock items and maintain minimum and maximum levels, ensuring any updates to quantities, warehouse locations and all other amendments are completed on the Agresso system.
  8. To support the stores supervisor by reporting team activities against the service level agreements and providing guidance to the team based on management direction.
  9. To carry out and provide assistance with other reasonable duties to support the work of the MVLS teams across both sites and other locations on request.
Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills and Experience Essential:
  • Standard grades or equivalent vocational qualification (VQ 2/3 or equivalent) and experience of personal development in a similar role or the ability to demonstrate the competencies required to undertake the duties associated with this level of post.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software
Desirable:
  • Working knowledge of the Agresso system or equivalent

  • IT competence
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to prioritise workload in a rapidly changing high pressure environment
  • Ability to recognise and deal with problems in their infancy thereby preventing escalation
  • A flexible and enthusiastic attitude
  • Willingsness to participate in training to acquire additional skills
  • Ability to use lifting equipment
  • Capable of working on own or as part of a team
Desirable:
  • Understanding of policies and procedures relative to the role
Experience
  • Ability to demonstrate the competencies required to undertake the duties associated with this level of post
  • Manual handling experience
Terms and Conditions Salary will be UoG Grade 4, £22,681 - £25,138 per annum. This post is part time (21 hours per week), and open ended (permanent).
