Discover a new kind of career in healthcare with Gaia Recruitment Limited. As a Medical Specialist, you will work as a functional specialist conducting assessments for claimants of the Governments disability allowance (Personal Independence Payment).
The role is ideal for nurses, occupational therapists, physiotherapists or paramedics looking for a change. You will be working on a hybrid model, based at home and assigned to work from your nearest assessment centre on a rota basis to deliver face-to-face assessments.
Your main responsibility will be to conduct initial reviews, paper-based, face-to-face, video or telephone assessments to evaluate how a claimant's health condition or disability affects their day-to-day life. You will create three comprehensive 3,000-4,000-word reports of the evidence gathered for each claimant, each day.
You will need to have excellent observational and communication skills, giving you the ability to listen, empathise and dig deeper. You must be able to type at a minimum of 30 words per minute and have demonstrable experience with using IT and Microsoft Office, as well as remotely accessing systems such as MS Teams.
We offer a competitive salary of £38,500 per annum (pro rata for part-time) plus a 5% retention bonus. On achievement of remote approved status, your salary will increase to £39,900 plus up to 10% bonus. On achievement of face-to-face delivery, your salary will increase to £41,500 plus up to 10% bonus.
You will also benefit from close mentorship provided as you work on your ongoing development. Everyone starts with a 12-week training programme (Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm) with time set aside for self-development learning.
