Job Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Product Development Manager to lead our Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) product development team. As a key member of our R&D department, you will be responsible for designing and developing cutting-edge NGS products and services.

About the Role

The successful candidate will have a strong background in molecular biology, biochemistry or genetics, with at least 10 years of experience in NGS technologies. You will have excellent leadership skills, with previous supervisory or line management experience, and be able to motivate and guide a team of scientists and technicians.

You will be responsible for managing multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery, and meeting regulatory requirements. Your expertise in assay design, verification, and validation will be essential in developing high-quality NGS products. Additionally, you will work closely with cross-functional teams, including Regulatory Affairs, Bioinformatics, and Software Development, to ensure seamless product development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the NGS product development team, providing scientific expertise and technical leadership
  • Manage multiple projects, ensuring timely delivery and meeting regulatory requirements
  • Design and develop high-quality NGS products, including research use only (RUO) and CEIVD regulated products
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless product development
  • Develop and implement efficient documentation processes, ensuring accurate and concise data interpretation
  • Provide training and support to junior staff, promoting consistency of approach across investigations
Requirements
  • Master's degree or Ph.D. in molecular biology, biochemistry, or genetics
  • At least 10 years of experience in NGS technologies, preferably across various short read and long read platforms
  • Proven leadership skills, with previous supervisory or line management experience
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions

We offer a competitive salary package, including a base salary of £80,000 - £110,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus benefits such as health insurance, pension scheme, and generous holiday allowance.
