About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Nurse Specialist in Breast Care to join our team at East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will provide specialist nursing advice and support to patients, their families, and other healthcare professionals.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide a highly developed standard of specialist breast care knowledge, advice, and clinical expertise to patients, families, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Have continuing responsibility for providing co-ordinated, holistic care for patients with breast disease from diagnosis, throughout treatment, and specified follow-up pathway.
  • Participate in aspects of clinical governance and implement quality initiatives as part of the audit process to both set and evaluate standards of care and service delivery within the nursing team and when appropriate the multidisciplinary team.
  • Contribute to the development of the breast care service within the Trust, demonstrating and raising awareness of the contribution of expert nursing to patient care.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (level 1)
  • 1st level degree in a relevant subject
  • Relevant specialist long course in breast care at degree level
  • Evidence of mentoring and coaching
  • Advanced communication course
  • Psychological level 2 training

Desirable

  • Evidence of working at Masters degree level
  • Evidence of clinical history taking skills
  • Clinical breast examination course or willingness to undertake
  • Training and competence in micro-pigmentation or willingness to undertake

Experience

  • Registered Nurse with proven relevant experience at Band 6 caring for patients with breast disorders
  • Ability to empathise and provide advice to patients and their families
  • Ability to manage a caseload of patients
  • Extensive experience of working autonomously at an advanced level within specialist area delivering effective patient focused care
