Job Title: Classroom Assistant - Special Educational Needs

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Classroom Assistant to join our team at the Education Authority. As a Classroom Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the learning and development of children with special educational needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist teachers in planning and delivering lessons to children with special educational needs
  • Provide individualized support to children to help them access the curriculum
  • Develop and maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment
  • Collaborate with teachers and other support staff to ensure effective communication and coordination
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
Requirements:
  • Hold a minimum of a Level 2 childcare qualification as approved by the Education Authority
  • Have a minimum of six months' experience of working with children with special educational needs in a formal learning environment
  • Evidence of a working knowledge of information technology systems, including Microsoft Word and Outlook
  • Ability to work flexibly and creatively to help ensure a child-centered learning experience
  • Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proven team working and collaborative skills
  • Effective planning and organizing skills to ensure work is completed on time to the required standard
Desirable Criteria:
  • Have a minimum of one year's experience of working with children with special educational needs in a paid capacity
Selection Process:

The selection process will involve a shortlisting stage, followed by an interview. The interview will assess your ability to meet the essential and desirable criteria, as well as your values and approach to work.
