We are seeking a committed Lead Reliability Engineer to deliver specialized reliability engineering and spearhead the execution of our Asset Management Strategy across all facilities within the Hillhouse site, while also extending support to our other UK facilities.

Role Objective:

In the capacity of Lead Reliability Engineer, you will be pivotal in crafting and executing systems and protocols that enhance safety, asset uptime, and quality. Your goal? To champion advancements in asset reliability, mentor engineering teams, and propel strategic initiatives that align with industry-leading standards.

Primary Responsibilities:

Safety Advocacy: Foster and maintain exemplary safety standards in all reliability engineering endeavors.

Asset Performance Assessment: Investigate and assess performance and reliability deficiencies of current plant assets, leading initiatives to boost asset uptime and meet world-class Overall Equipment Effectiveness benchmarks.

Reliability Engineering Guidance: Offer expert reliability engineering guidance and mentorship to core engineering and maintenance teams.

Data Evaluation and Best Practices: Scrutinize operational data to recommend best practices, suggest methods to minimize production losses, identify opportunities for performance enhancement, and deliver robust, cost-effective solutions.

System and Procedure Formulation: Formulate systems, procedures, and methodologies to enhance asset uptime and reliability.

Root Cause Investigation: Lead investigations into major component failures, implementing changes to avert recurrence.

Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA): Conduct FMEA on existing assets, pinpointing vulnerabilities and opportunities to eliminate potential failures.

Reliability Strategy Formulation: Develop equipment reliability strategies based on FMEA outcomes, bad actor analysis, asset criticality assessments, and equipment failure data, including defining spare parts strategy.

Project Participation: Engage in the design and installation phases of new projects, ensuring new assets integrate seamlessly into the existing Asset Management Strategy.

External Collaboration: Collaborate with suppliers, contractors, and equipment manufacturers to identify innovative solutions for existing asset failures and define new equipment specifications.

Customer Orientation: Establish and meet short-term and long-term objectives, taking personal responsibility for achieving agreed targets.

Cost Reduction and Plant Uptime: Lead targeted initiatives to decrease manufacturing costs by minimizing equipment failures and enhancing plant uptime.

Mentorship and Development: Support the development and mentoring of others in equipment reliability processes and techniques.

Experience and Skills:

Reliability Engineering:

  • Demonstrated success in delivering reliability enhancements using tools such as FMEA and Reliability Centered Maintenance.
  • Experience in leading complex root cause investigations and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Strong engineering background with expertise in discipline standards and hazard assessments.
  • Exceptional technical writing skills for data-driven decision-making and KPI visualization.

Leadership:

  • Extensive experience in developing and implementing reliability programs and training teams.
  • Proven leadership and mentoring capabilities.

Strategic Planning:

  • Ability to formulate and achieve long-term strategic plans for asset reliability and maintenance.

Innovative Problem-Solving:

  • Proven track record of implementing innovative solutions and leveraging new technologies to enhance reliability.

Advanced Analytical and Data Interpretation:

  • Expertise in utilizing advanced analytical tools and software for predictive maintenance.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Proven ability to cultivate strong relationships and influence senior management.

Financial Insight:

  • Deep understanding of maintenance-related financial metrics, budget management, and cost-benefit analyses.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Experience in delivering minor projects and system upgrades with a continuous improvement mindset.

Regulatory and Compliance:

  • Extensive knowledge of industry regulations and standards, ensuring compliance and safety enhancements.

Project Management:

  • Experience managing large-scale projects, coordinating cross-functional teams, and handling significant budgets.

Change Management:

  • Experience leading cultural change initiatives and fostering continuous improvement.

Crisis Management and Resilience:

  • Proven ability to manage reliability during critical incidents and develop resilience strategies.

Functional Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project) and statistical software (Minitab/JMP).

Qualifications and Professional Memberships:
  • Degree level qualification in reliability, asset management, or a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Membership in a relevant professional institution is desirable.
  • Working towards or achieving Chartered Engineer status is advantageous.
  • A Lean Six Sigma qualification is considered beneficial.
  • Being a Certified Greenbelt is desirable.
  • IOSHH Managing Safely certification is advantageous.
