Job Title: Lead Adult Speech and Language Therapist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Adult Speech and Language Therapist to join our multidisciplinary team at the Blackheath Brain Injury Rehabilitation Unit. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading and managing the Speech and Language Therapy service, ensuring effective delivery of high-quality patient care.

About the Role

The successful candidate will have a strong background in neurorehabilitation, with experience of working at Band 7 level in a similar setting. You will be responsible for managing a complex caseload, providing advanced specialist Speech and Language Therapy assessment and treatment, and taking a lead role in diagnosis, problem formulation, and planning of rehabilitation programmes within the multidisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the Speech and Language Therapy team, ensuring effective delivery of the highly specialist SLT service.
  • Provide advanced specialist Speech and Language Therapy assessment and treatment of communication and swallowing.
  • Take a lead role in diagnosis, problem formulation, and planning of rehabilitation programmes within the MDT.
  • Evaluate effectiveness of interventions using valid and reliable outcome measures and adherence to UKROC Database measures.
  • Ensure effective and timely communication at all levels (with patients, families, the MDT, and external agencies).
  • Develop and deliver in-service education and training programme for the wider MDT.

Person Specification
  • HCPC registration.
  • At least 2 years' experience of working at Band 7 level in a neurorehabilitation setting.
  • Ability to manage a complex caseload independently with proven expertise in the field of neurorehabilitation.
