About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Relief Driver to join our team at Wigan Council. As a key member of our Local Kitchen, Transport & Road Safety (LTRS) service, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of vulnerable adults to their destinations.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Operate a daily split shift, collecting and transporting vulnerable adults using our in-house 16-seat minibuses.
  • Work collaboratively with Passenger Assistants to ensure the safety, wellbeing, and comfort of each service user during transit.
  • Develop a strong understanding of the needs of our service users, including those with special educational needs, learning disabilities, Alzheimer's, or dementia.
  • Be flexible and dynamic, able to complete any bus route at short notice to support wider service delivery.
  • Contribute to the development of a positive and inclusive work environment, promoting equality and diversity within the borough.
