Job Summary
TE Connectivity's Manufacturing Engineering Teams are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Manufacturing Engineer to join their team. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for implementing automation and semi-automation projects to improve productivity and deliver growth across the site.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement automation and semi-automation projects to improve productivity and deliver growth across the site.
- Support the Manufacturing Engineering team with knowledge and experience in automation technologies and by creating clear business case justifications for investment.
- Enable the smooth integration of new equipment into production through clear project ownership from concept and RFQ to implementation and acceptance testing.
- Support upgrades and problem solving on existing automated equipment.
- This role will be predominantly focussed on the assembly area, however support will also be required for projects in Machine Shop, Plating and Mould shop.
- Keep well-informed of technical developments and review manufacturing methods.
- Observe and comply with Health and Safety regulations as laid down in company procedures and Government legislation.
- Carry out any other reasonable tasks as directed by the business from time to time.
Requirements
- HNC or Degree in Mechanical or Production Engineering or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of industry experience.
- Practical knowledge of assembly techniques and a background in manufacturing engineering.
- Previous experience working with automation essential.
- Experience using SAP.
- Identifies and recommends new or improved manufacturing processes and technical developments.
- Ability to use own initiative to 'troubleshoot' problems in Production areas as they arise using industry tools such as 5 why's, fishbone diagrams and 8D reports.
- Continuous improvement involving Material Replenishment and Flow, Cell Design, Quick Change Over (SMED), 5S+1, Mistake Proofing and Standards of Work.
- Drive and passion to deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
- Project management skills when delivering projects.
- Financial understanding and experience building CAPEX project justifications.
- Experience creating RFQs and working with suppliers to deliver key investment projects.
- Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt or equivalent such as Red X highly desirable.
- Experience with digital machine connectivity.
- Continuous improvement involving Material Replenishment and Flow and Cycle Wheels or Heijunka Boards.
