Job Title: Principal Commissioning Engineer

BAE Systems (New) is seeking a highly skilled Principal Commissioning Engineer to join our Propulsion Electrical Commissioning Team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for commissioning the electrical power and distribution plant on the first of class, next generation of Dreadnought submarines.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deputise for the Commissioning Project Leader as and when required, including supervision of personnel on shift.
  • Instruct and mentor members of the team within your knowledge and competency.
  • Responsible for researching, authoring, and reviewing of design and test documentations to the required standards.
  • Liaise/Interface with relevant stakeholders to ensure activities are undertaken in a safe and compliant manner.
  • Keep full and accurate records of work activities carried out as required by policy, procedure, and legislation.
  • Represent the company on Factory Acceptance Tests and offsite test facilities, Contractors Sea Trials and other outworking requirements.
Requirements:
  • Experience leading of complex Commissioning trials and experience of test groups.
  • Degree/HNC/HND in an Engineering discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of AC and DC Electrical Generation and Power distribution systems.
  • Experience working with Distribution Systems, C&I, and Electrical Testing.
  • Knowledge of Instrumentation Systems including Electrostatic Discharge, Low Voltage Control, Data Communications, PLCs & Fibre Optics.
  • Detailed knowledge of Safety Control and Procedures in a high-risk environment.
