SEND Quality Assurance Lead

We are seeking a driven SEND Quality Assurance Lead to manage and lead the SEND Quality Assurance Framework and processes in ensuring high quality Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND).

This role involves working with schools and multi-academy trusts to create new SEND placements, streamline funding processes, and improve the overall financial governance of SEND provisions. You will manage relationships with key stakeholders, ensuring funding agreements, timelines, and high-quality education standards are met.

Key responsibilities include:
  1. Delivering training and tools to the SEND Service regarding coproduction, keeping the child/young person at the heart of a person-centred approach and having regard to the voice of the child/young person and the aspirations of the family at all times.
  2. Supporting the SEND Service Manager in reporting on the quality of EHCPs to the SEND Improvement Board through audits and findings of the Quality Assurance Group.
  3. Developing and maintaining partnerships with families, schools, and partners in Health and Social Care to ensure shared understanding throughout the statutory process, as well as relevant and high-quality advice.
  4. Liaising with others to ensure that concerns are dealt with appropriately, and at the earliest possible stage.
Key Person Requirements:
  1. Proven experience in leading SEND funding changes and financial system improvements.
  2. Strong knowledge of SEND statutory responsibilities and school place planning.
  3. Senior leadership experience in a local authority or similar setting.
  4. Strong relationship-building abilities across diverse stakeholders.
Perfect candidate will be:
  1. Recognised and relevant professional qualifications e.g. teaching qualifications, social work, other level 6 qualifications, management qualifications.
  2. Evidence of skills, knowledge and experience to be able to assess and manage risk for the most vulnerable children.
  3. Highly skilled at building meaningful relationships with children and families to engage them in assessments and plans.
  4. Committed to providing our service users with a high-quality service.
