Apprentice Design Engineer

Based in Inverclyde, our client in the commercial shipbuilding industry requires a skilled Design Engineer to create detailed 2D design layouts and arrangements, taking into account client requirements and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities- Liaise with electrical, mechanical, and structural teams to manage technical queries and ensure seamless collaboration.
- Work closely with customers and subcontractors to address design-related issues and concerns, providing excellent customer service.
- Review 3D models and consult with the European Design Team as needed to ensure high-quality designs.
- Produce drawings efficiently and align outputs with Planning and Production schedules to meet deadlines.
- Ensure designs meet regulatory class requirements, maintaining the highest standards of quality and compliance.
Proficient use of AutoCAD (or similar design software) and Microsoft Office is essential. A minimum of 4 years' experience in drawing office or detail design, preferably in the commercial shipbuilding industry, is required. A good understanding of ship outfitting requirements and UK passenger ship regulations is also necessary. HNC/HND or a relevant time-served apprenticeship is preferred.
