Opendesk is a fast-growing technology and design company that's changing the way products are designed and made. We're an online furniture brand that's shifting the industry's focus from mass production to local fabrication.

We're looking for a skilled Fullstack Lead Developer to oversee our web development work, processes, and technical architecture during our next phase of growth. In the coming months, we want to deliver a great customer experience, move more interactions online, and facilitate local furniture making through maker-facing tools.

  • We need to simplify and systematise our business by integrating online and offline components into a unified framework.
  • Our user interactions and experience should be mainly online.
  • Maker-facing tools will be developed to facilitate local furniture making.

Key projects to be delivered by the Fullstack Lead Developer include:

Project Planning and Visualisation Environment

An in-browser customisation tool will be developed based on parameterised design models to provide more choice to customers online.

Marketing Website and Publishing System

A Ruby-based CMS will be used to develop a marketing website and publishing and file distribution system, both deployed on AWS.

Marketplace and Job Fulfilment System

A state-machine based marketplace and job fulfilment system will be developed in Python using SQLAlchemy and PostgreSQL, deployed on Heroku.

The Fullstack Lead Developer will also be expected to contribute to our working culture, including:

  • OKR system to agree roadmap and priorities
  • Weekly and monthly progress meetings
  • DevOps and server configuration

The ideal candidate will have experience with:

  • DevOps, server configuration, and orchestration
  • Databases and data modelling
  • Web application development
  • JavaScript and either Ruby or Python
