Consultant in Psychiatry Learning Disabilities Specialist

This is an exciting opportunity to work with the newly developed Forensic Intellectual and Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (FIND) Community Team in South West London & St George's Mental Health Trust. The team provides community treatment and care coordination for adults with a diagnosis of a Learning Disability and/or Autism who also experience co-morbid mental illness alongside offending behaviours. The post-holder will provide medical leadership to the team and work in a multidisciplinary setting to deliver effective, efficient, and safe recovery-focused mental health care.
Main Duties of the Job- Provide medical leadership to the FIND Community Team.
- Work in a multidisciplinary team to deliver community treatment and care coordination.
- Carry overall responsibility for the day-to-day clinical care, risk assessment, risk management, medication management, and recovery-focused care delivered by the team.

- Ensuring the delivery of effective, efficient, and safe recovery-focused mental health care.
- Primary Medical degree.
- Included on the GMC Specialist Register for Forensic or Learning Disability Psychiatry or eligible for such inclusion on the Specialist Registrar within three months of completing their CCT.
- Section approval of the Mental Health Act.
- Completed minimum of three years full-time training in an approved higher psychiatric training scheme.
- A detailed knowledge of main treatment approaches for intellectual disabilities and autism, risk assessment and risk management, interface with the Criminal Justice system, and forensic inpatient settings.
- Commitment to developing practice through clinical audit and/or research.
- Commitment to working with allied agencies including carer's groups, and local charities.
- Experience of service planning and development.
- Completion of a research project and evidence of its dissemination.
- Experience of teaching undergraduate and postgraduate psychiatry.
- Willingness to supervise junior medical staff and staff from allied disciplines.
- Evidence of helping others who have suffered physical, mental, or social misfortune.
