Job Overview

We are seeking a Clinical Assistant to join our surgical team at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust. As a Clinical Assistant, you will work alongside junior doctors to support their ward rounds and administrative tasks.

The successful candidate will work under the supervision of doctors and will assist them in delivering patient care. You will gain competence in certain skills, such as cannulation, phlebotomy, and ECG recording.

The Clinical Assistant will form part of a rota that provides support for the surgical team seven days a week, including bank holidays.

Main Duties of the Job

1. The Clinical Assistant will be an integral part of the surgical team and will be embedded within the team rather than attached to a specific ward.

2. The Clinical Assistant will work under the supervision of doctors and will assist them in delivering patient care.

3. The Clinical Assistant will gain competence in certain skills, such as cannulation, phlebotomy, and ECG recording.

4. The Clinical Assistant will form part of a rota that provides support for the surgical team seven days a week, including bank holidays.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential Criteria

  • GCSE English or equivalent qualification.
  • GCSE Maths or equivalent qualification.

Desirable Criteria

  • Completion of training and competence in venepuncture, cannulation, and ECG recording.
