Product Quality Specialist

Goodfish Group, a leading contract manufacturer of plastic and composite components, is seeking a Quality Engineer to join its New Product Introduction (NPI) team at its Cannock site. The successful candidate will support the NPI team on a wide range of projects, including those for the automotive sector, and will have a strong understanding of quality controls and procedures in the automotive world.
The ideal candidate will have experience in quality assurance and will be able to project manage the job through various technical and QA stages to SOP. They will take a hands-on approach as the quality expert in a project team, ensuring minimum quality-related risks to new projects.
The key responsibilities of the role include:
- Managing the quality aspects of new projects, ensuring smooth transition of new products
- Developing professional working relationships with customers, including dynamic problem-solving throughout each project
- Programming the Hexagon metrology machine (CMM/Scanner) to measure new parts as new projects come on board
- Aiding with prototype and pre-production manufacturing runs to identify and implement new processes and resolve quality concerns
- Promoting lean manufacturing and continuous improvement tools where needed during the project process
- Suggesting and implementing continuous improvement ideas from a quality perspective for NPI projects
- Identifying and supporting procurement of new tools required for new projects/production
The successful candidate will have worked in a similar role in the automotive or aerospace industry and will have experience of working in plastic injection moulding. They will also have demonstrable automotive project management experience and be trained in the 5 automotive quality core tools.
