Job Summary:

Lynx Recruitment Ltd is seeking a highly skilled Senior Optical Design Engineer to join their fibre optics R&D department in a leading fibre optics specialist company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of optical amplifier subsystems, including high-power C-band amplifiers and low-noise amplifiers
  • Design and navigate complex technical challenges in fibre optics
  • Exercise sound technical judgment to balance project risks and ensure successful outcomes
  • Work independently to progress projects and troubleshoot problems with minimal supervision
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of optical, mechanical, and electrical engineers
  • Communicate technical information effectively to customers and stakeholders
  • Provide technical leadership to grow the team and drive innovation
  • Ensure compliance with company health, safety, and environmental policies

Requirements:

  • Deep knowledge of fibre lasers, fibre amplifiers, and non-linear fibre optics
  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline or physics, with a Ph.D. highly desirable
  • Hands-on experience in designing and testing optical systems
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proven track record of leading teams and managing complex projects
