Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Credit Controller to join our global company. This role will encompass a mix of credit control and accounts receivable responsibilities, focusing on managing credit risk, optimizing cash flow, and ensuring effective credit and collections processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Credit Risk Management:
    • Develop and implement credit policies and procedures to effectively manage credit risk and minimize bad debts.
    • Assess and review the creditworthiness of new and existing customers by analysing financial statements, credit reports, and payment histories.
    • Establish and review credit limits and terms for customers, ensuring they align with company policies and risk management strategies.
  • Collections Management:
    • Oversee the collection process for overdue invoices, including regular follow-ups with customers and negotiation of payment terms.
    • Manage the end-to-end collections process, resolving disputes and escalating issues as needed to ensure timely payment.
    • Monitor and manage aged receivables, working to achieve collection targets and improve cash flow.
  • Accounts Receivable Management:
    • Supervise the processing of customer invoices, ensuring accuracy and timely issuance.
    • Reconcile customer accounts, including resolving discrepancies and applying payments to appropriate accounts.
    • Coordinate with the finance team to ensure accurate and timely recording of receivables and management of cash applications.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Lead and mentor the credit control and accounts receivable team, setting clear objectives and performance targets.
    • Provide guidance, training, and support to enhance team performance and professional development.
    • Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the team.
  • Reporting and Analysis:
    • Prepare and present regular reports on credit control and accounts receivable performance, including key metrics such as days sales outstanding (DSO), collection effectiveness, and bad debt levels.
    • Analyse financial data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for process improvements.
    • Provide insights and recommendations to senior management on credit and receivables strategies.
  • Process Improvement:
    • Identify and implement improvements to credit control and accounts receivable processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
    • Leverage technology and automation to streamline processes and reduce manual workloads.
    • Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Customer Relationship Management:
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, addressing any credit or payment issues in a professional and constructive manner.
    • Collaborate with sales and customer service teams to resolve customer queries and disputes related to credit and receivables.
    • Ensure that interactions with customers support long-term business relationships and promote positive outcomes.
  • Compliance and Documentation:
    • Ensure adherence to legal and regulatory requirements related to credit management and accounts receivable.
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of credit and receivable activities, including customer communications and payment arrangements.
    • Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and responding to audit inquiries.
