About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Data Governance Specialist to join our team at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust. In this role, you will be responsible for providing strategic leadership on data governance, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations, and developing policies and procedures to protect sensitive information.

As a key member of our team, you will work closely with colleagues across the organization to identify and mitigate risks associated with data handling, storage, and sharing. Main Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement data governance policies and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Provide expert guidance on data protection and risk management to stakeholders across the organization.
  • Conduct regular audits and assessments to identify areas for improvement and recommend solutions.
  • Liaise with internal teams, including IT, clinical, and administrative departments, to ensure effective data management practices.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging trends, technologies, and regulatory requirements to inform data governance strategies.


Requirements
  • Proven experience in data governance, risk management, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated expertise in data protection laws and regulations, such as GDPR and DPA 2018.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and mitigate risks associated with data handling.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as business administration, computer science, or information technology.
