HSEQ Superintendent

The HSEQ Superintendent plays a crucial role in providing expert advice to Fleet Groups and Vessels on HSEQ matters, leveraging their professional knowledge and experience to ensure compliance with international regulations and standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement and maintain the International Safety Management (ISM) Code and other shipboard audits to achieve and maintain accreditation.
- Ensure compliance with ISM, TMSA, ISO Standards, and the Company Safety Management System (SMS) for Ship Management Offices and Management Fleet.
- Provide an audit function for internal and external businesses in accordance with the Company's Management System.
- Assist with UDE investigations, recording details, and preparing associated reports.
- Prepare accident/incident statistics as required by Line Manager and Senior Management.
- Coordinate the preparation of Quarterly and Annual HSEQ Reports.
- Analyze health and safety statistics as per client requirements.
- Conduct Behaviour Based Safety observations analysis and feedback reporting.
- Respond to Safety Committee Meetings as required by the Fleet Groups.
- Respond to the master's review of the management system.
- Identify documentation amendments/revisions to meet identified needs in the development of the Company's Management System.
- Interpret classification societies and flag state regulations on matters related to the Company Safety Management System as required.
- Conduct HSEQ inductions for Senior Officers and HSEQ briefings with visiting Senior Officers.
- Conduct Senior Officer appraisals.
- Coordinate and prepare Company emergency exercises.
- Other duties as required by the Company's Senior Management.
- Interview sea staff recruits within their area(s) of expertise as requested by the Personnel Department.
- Assist with the response to new business tenders.
- Assist with the preparation and training of office personnel for external audits.
- Attend and contribute to worldwide seminars conducted by the Company.
- Occasional business travel as required.
- Emergency Role: Member of the Casualty Response Team.
Candidate Requirements:
- HND or equivalent experience in a related discipline.
- Deck or Engineer Officer (Class II).
- IRCA Lead Auditor qualification.
- NEBOSH Diploma or Diploma in Safety Management.
- Experience working with Marine/Shipping entities in an HSEQ/Compliance role.
- Experience at sea, sailing as a Senior Deck Officer or Senior Marine Engineer.
- Demonstrable experience with health and safety systems.
- Demonstrable experience running health and safety training programs.
- Demonstrable experience working with TMSA standards and audit practices.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and organisation skills.
- Extensive experience working with MS office packages.
