HSEQ Superintendent Job Summary
The HSEQ Superintendent provides critical HSEQ advice to Fleet Groups and Vessels as required, utilizing their professional knowledge and onboard experience to implement and maintain certifications in accordance with the International Management Code for the Safe Operation of Ships and for Pollution Prevention, ISO Standards, and TMSA Requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implementing International Safety Management (ISM) Code and other shipboard audits to achieve and maintain accreditation in accordance with legislative requirements.
- Ensure compliance with ISM, TMSA, ISO Standards, Company Safety Management System (SMS) for Ship Management Offices and Management Fleet.
- Providing an audit function for internal & external businesses in accordance with the requirements of the Company's Management System.
- Assisting with UDE investigations, recording the details, and preparing any associated report(s).
- Preparing accident/incident statistics as required by Line Manager and Senior Management.
- Co-ordinate the preparation of the Quarterly and Annual HSEQ Reports.
- Analyse health and safety statistics as per client requirements.
- Behaviour Based Safety observations analysis and feedback reporting.
- Responding to Safety Committee Meetings as required by the Fleet Groups.
- Responding to the master's review of the management system.
- Identifying documentation amendments/revisions to meet identified needs in the development of the Company's Management System.
- Interpreting classification societies and flag state regulations on matters related to the Company Safety Management System as required by Line Manager and Senior Management.
- Conducting HSEQ inductions for Senior Officers and HSEQ briefings with visiting Senior Officers.
- Conducting Senior Officer appraisals.
- Co-ordination and preparation of Company emergency exercises.
- Any other duties as required by the Company's Senior Management.
- Interviewing sea staff recruits within their area(s) of expertise as requested by the Personnel Department.
- Assist with the response to new business tenders.
- Assist with the preparation and training of office personnel for external audits.
- Attend and contribute to worldwide seminars conducted by the Company.
- Occasional business travel as required.
- Emergency Role: Member of the Casualty Response Team.
Candidate Requirements:
- HND or equivalent experience in related discipline.
- Deck or Engineer Officer (Class II).
- IRCA Lead Auditor qualification.
- NEBOSH Diploma or Diploma in Safety Management.
- Experience working with Marine/Shipping entities in an HSEQ/Compliance role.
- Experience at sea, sailing as a Senior Deck Officer or Senior Marine Engineer.
- Demonstrable experience with health and safety systems.
- Demonstrable experience running health and safety training programs.
- Demonstrable experience working with TMSA standards and audit practices.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and organisation skills.
- Extensive experience working with MS office packages.
The role offers the opportunity for Hybrid working and is dependent on commercial demands.
