Product Development Lead

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the development of products from initial designs to final production.
  • Create and manage critical paths for seasonal products, capsules, and collaborations.
  • Act as the primary point of contact and liaison between key teams for collaborations.
  • Liaise with Merchandising and Sales teams to create SKU counts for seasonal products, collaborations, and third-party products.
  • Define and manage the budget for collection development, reporting at the end of the season and collaborations.
  • Lead teams in sourcing new factories and decide with Design where products are placed.
  • Develop and maintain a sample tracker and Tech Packs for all styles.
  • Liaise with Fabric & Trims Buyers to ensure timely delivery of fabrics and trims and communicate any subs clearly.
  • Ensure colour and wash continuity on repeat styles.
  • Launch lab dips, strike-offs, and wash trials.
  • Maintain seasonal folders with fabric swatches and bulk cuttings, lab dips, and strike-offs.
  • Request Fabric Data Sheets from mills and ensure compliance in all markets.
  • Liaise with Design to launch P1/P2 samples with factories.
  • Chase P1/P2 samples with initial costing and review with Merchandising for viability.
  • Arrange and attend fit meetings.
  • Order [Zedonk] and manage Salesman Samples.
  • Chase SMS with costings and share with Merchandising in advance of Buy meetings.
  • Liaise with Merchandising to identify products not meeting required margins, assess viability, and make changes as needed.
  • Determine which styles require PPS/Shoot Samples, order, chase, and keep Marketing updated on delivery dates and delays.
  • Launch and develop new woven labels, including collaborative and secondary labels.
  • Define and communicate label placement.
  • Define washcare and approve label submissions.
  • Approve Proto/SMS/PPS/Shoot Sample invoices.
  • Ensure the Ecom team has necessary product information and aid Customer Service inquiries.
  • Work with QC teams to resolve any issues.

Requirements and Skills:

  • Significant experience in product development in menswear and across categories.
  • Experience as a Product Development Manager or Head of Product Development.
  • Previous experience in establishing and developing a team.
  • Experience in creating and controlling product development budgets.
  • Existing relationships with mills, factories, and trim suppliers in Europe.
  • Ability to communicate across different levels and functions within the business.
  • Strong project and time management skills, with the ability to work under pressure and prioritise.
  • Methodical approach, strong accuracy, and attention to detail.
  • Strong understanding of garment construction, fit, and suitability of fabric and trims.
  • Knowledge of fabric testing, standards, and industry requirements.
  • Strong knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and Excel.
  • Able to travel to the UK and Europe as required.
  • Knowledge of Zedonk is an advantage.
