About the Role

The Shires - Oakham is seeking a skilled Pastoral Support Worker to join our team. As an Autism Specialist, you will work closely with school staff and families to empower our pupils and young people to succeed in their educational placement and achieve their life goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality pastoral support to students, enabling them to access their school placement on a day-to-day basis.
  • Collaborate with clinical, teaching, and support staff to share strategies for support and develop individualized plans.
  • Participate in the development and review of support documentation, including risk assessments and individual learning plans.
  • Ensure accurate record-keeping and assist in the preparation of routine reports.
  • Provide absence cover for class teaching support as needed.

About the School

The Shires - Oakham is an Independent Special School for 11-18 year olds with Autism and associated diagnoses. Our school delivers a primary curriculum to secondary-aged pupils who have struggled in mainstream or larger SEN settings. We offer a supportive environment with small class groups and a high staff-to-pupil ratio.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to be educated to GCSE grade C or above in Maths and English. Ideally, you will have experience supporting autistic teenagers who have struggled to achieve their academic and life goals.
