Job Opportunity: Teaching Assistant

We are a primary special school catering for pupils from across the Wakefield District who have severe and profound learning difficulties. Many pupils have additional needs including Autism, VI, HI, physical disability and medical needs.

The School operates on two sites, Stanley and Castleford. The post is initially based on both of our sites, but the successful candidate may be required to work on either site in the future and must be willing and able to do so.

We are seeking to appoint a permanent Teaching Assistant to support the educational, physical, social and emotional development of our pupils.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the teaching and learning of pupils with severe and complex learning needs
  • Work as part of a team of dedicated staff to provide a supportive and inclusive learning environment
  • Assist with the planning and delivery of educational programs
  • Provide individualized support to pupils with additional needs

Requirements:

  • Commitment to working with pupils who have severe and complex learning needs
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Willingness to undertake appropriate training and professional development

  • Relevant experience working with pupils with severe and complex learning needs
  • Ability to demonstrate a commitment to inclusive education and pupil-centered practice
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
