Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Service Manager to join our team at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day laboratory management and administrative processes of the Clinical Genetics & Genomics Laboratory.

Main Responsibilities
  • Lab Management: Monitor the throughput and performance of all procedures carried out in the laboratory, ensuring that they meet clinical requirements and comply with best laboratory practice.
  • Administrative Support: Assist with the management of the day-to-day performance of the service, including administrative tasks such as staff recruitment and training, and maintaining communication with users of the service.
  • Quality Management: Assist the Quality Manager in maintaining ISO15189 accreditation with the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS), and monitor the laboratory inventory.
  • Financial Management: Liaise with the RBHT Private Patient department to monitor monthly private patient invoicing and income, and assist with the management of the laboratory budget.
Requirements
  • Education and Qualifications: Relevant BSc or Master's degree.
  • Experience and Knowledge: Knowledge and experience of scientific, technical, and managerial issues as a medical Laboratory Manager, including demonstrable knowledge of current developments within the discipline of human genetics.
  • Personal Qualities: Able to work under pressure to achieve deadlines, and possess well-developed computer and keyboard skills.
