Senior Hydrologist Modeller

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Senior or Principal Flood Modeller/Hydrologist to join our Hydrological Sciences team. With a strong focus on delivering high-quality projects, you will be responsible for working with the team and independently to deal with new enquiries from clients, develop fee proposals, set up and manage projects, deliver technical work, and assist more junior staff in their work.
Key Responsibilities- Flood Risk Assessments and Flood Modelling (fluvial, pluvial, and tidal)
- Outline Sustainable Drainage System (SuDS) design and/or detailed drainage design
- Hydraulic modelling (1D, 2D, and 1D-2D) of rivers (flood modelling, discharge impact assessments, normal/low flow/water resources modelling, and WINEP investigations)
- Natural Flood Management Investigations
- FEH analyses
- Surface water flood modelling (2D direct-rainfall)
- Environmental Impact Assessments
- Fluvial geomorphology audits
- Hydromorphological impact assessments
- Water Framework Directive assessments
- Sediment transport assessments/modelling
- Bespoke hydrological assessments
- Hydrological monitoring
- River restoration
- Natural Flood Management
- Discharge permit applications
You will hold strong experience in Hydraulic Modelling software (e.g., Flood Modeller Pro, ISIS - Tuflow, Estry - Tuflow, WinDes, and Microdrainage) with extensive knowledge of hydrological assessments and flow estimation or other flow calculation methods. Experience with SuDS and surface/foul water drainage design alongside experience with hydrological EIA is also essential.
You will ideally hold a degree in Environmental Science and must hold a relevant master's degree through a separate or integrated course. For this position, you should be chartered with a relevant professional institution, however, we will consider and support individuals currently working towards obtaining chartership.
