Join Our Team as a Mechanical Technician

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Technician to join our team at Biffa's MBT facility in Brookhurst Wood, West Sussex. As a key member of our engineering team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our plant and driving engineering activities to deliver all operational aspects of the facility.

About the Role

  • Drive plant availability through effective maintenance and engineering activities
  • Ensure all PPMs, reactive maintenance, engineering, and process improvements are carried out and implemented in a timely manner
  • Drive best practice on a daily basis through high engineering, compliance, and H&S standards

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high operational availability and efficient breakdown repair service through diagnosis and effective repairs
  • Carry out installation work to required standards
  • Ensure productivity and availability exceed minimum defined standards while driving best practice and continuous improvement in cost control and processing operations
  • Liaise with internal process engineers, Scada controllers, and external contractors on specific repairs/maintenance work
  • Keep abreast of changes to Health & Safety, Environmental Legislation, and Company Policies to ensure defined standards and best practices are implemented

Requirements

  • Engineering Qualification Level 3 City and Guilds/NVQ
  • Previous health and safety training, IOSH
  • HNC/D Mechanical Engineering (desirable)
  • IOSHH Managing Safely (desirable)
  • Supervisory experience
  • DSEAR Awareness (desirable)
  • Proven Welding experience (desirable)
