About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Habilitation Specialist to join our team at Wandsworth Sensory Support Service. As a Habilitation Specialist, you will be responsible for delivering a comprehensive Habilitation programme for children and young people with sensory impairment. This will involve working with a caseload of up to 40 pupils, using your specialist knowledge and experience to maximise their potential for independence and develop their essential life skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver a comprehensive Habilitation programme for children and young people with sensory impairment
  • Work with a caseload of up to 40 pupils, using your specialist knowledge and experience to maximise their potential for independence and develop their essential life skills
  • Collaborate with a small, highly experienced team to provide high-quality support to children and young people across the borough
  • Provide support to children and young people in their school or home environment, as well as routes in between school, home or other areas
  • Develop your career within Special Educational Needs, promoting independence and transforming young people's lives

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Habilitation Specialist or a qualified Rehabilitation Worker with a Foundation Degree in Rehabilitation Work, Vision Impairment
  • Good understanding of the required quality standards for Habilitation
  • Attention to detail, good interpersonal skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with children, young people, their families, and professionals
  • Experience working with children with vision impairment (highly desirable)
