Senior Quantity Surveyor

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our team in Southampton, Hampshire.
About the Role:The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring projects are delivered on time and profitable. Key responsibilities include ensuring sub-contract orders are let expeditiously, projects are fully valued, and accurate project reports are prepared for management consideration.
Key Accountabilities:- Promote company visions, values, and a culture of continuous improvement.
- Communicate with colleagues, customers, consultants, and subcontractors in a professional and persuasive manner.
- Comply with best practice in health and safety, relevant codes of professional practice, and standards of professional competence.
- Provide adequate supervision to trainees and assistant quantity surveyors.
- Evaluate risks and opportunities, working closely with the team to maximize benefits.
- Select suitable contracts and place orders with sub-contractors, liaising with relevant project team members as necessary.
- Ensure comparative prices are obtained and that company procurement procedures are followed.
- Negotiate robust terms with sub-contractors, providing cost-effective solutions for the project.
- Liaise closely with the buyer, documenting subcontract orders and professional appointments properly and timely.
- Verify accounts submitted by subcontractors, ensure payments are raised, and necessary contractual notices are in place.
- Collaborate with the contracts manager throughout.
- Agree final accounts with subcontractors, ensuring final account agreements forms are copied to Finance.
- Agree schedules of valuation dates with customers or their representatives.
- Ensure contract valuations are submitted to obtain timely issue of certificates, maximizing cash flow.
- Record dates for valuations, issue of certificates, and receipts of payment on the project.
- Price and agree variations progressively throughout the contract, enabling the final account to be agreed near practical completion.
- Release retention monies at the correct time.
- Maintain records, preparing applications for extensions of time awards and loss and expense accounts with the main contracts manager.
- Protect the company's commercial position by maintaining contractual correspondence and records.
- Keep customers and their representatives informed of financial matters, advising on forecast final accounts.
- Attend pre-commencement meetings, transferring relevant information from estimators to the project team.
- Participate in regular review and control meetings with the management team.
- Notify any disputed items in external valuations and/or final account, overdue valuations, certificates, and payments, sub-contract problems, disputes, or potential issues.
- Submit financial reports, including monthly project reviews, according to the company's reporting schedule.
- Produce reports using standard company templates and COINS software.
- Review project costs, values, progress, procurement, design status, and profitability, as well as work planned.
- Inform the contracts manager of the financial status of each project.
Degree, MCIOB, MRICS, or similar qualifications are required. Salary is open to discussion, but we estimate £55,000 - £65,000 per annum based on location and industry standards.
