About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Groundsperson to join our team at Edinburgh Zoo. As a Groundsperson, you will play a vital role in maintaining the beauty and safety of our park gardens, including the nursery and landscape areas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with daily maintenance of gardens and landscapes to agreed standards, including cleaning, repairs, and supporting construction projects.
  • Coordinate horticultural activities, such as leaf sweeping, weeding, and grass cutting, in collaboration with other sections and departments.
  • Conduct routine cleaning, inspection, and maintenance of assigned plant and vehicles, adhering to transport policy and best practice.
  • Recommend cost-effective opportunities to minimize the impact of department and RZSS operations on the environment.
  • Support the Events Team with special event setup and takedown.

Requirements

  • Relevant SVQ level 1 qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Basic understanding of horticultural practice.
  • Practical experience in horticultural and landscaping activities.
  • Able to demonstrate and set a good example of health and safety practice.

Working Arrangements

This is a permanent, part-time position for 22.5 hours per week, working Mondays to Wednesdays. The salary is pro rata for 22.5 hours, £12, - £13, per annum (Full Time Equivalent £21, - £21, per annum).
