About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Groundsperson to join our team at Edinburgh Zoo. As a Groundsperson, you will play a vital role in maintaining the beauty and safety of our park gardens, ensuring they are well-presented for our visitors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with daily maintenance of gardens and landscapes, adhering to high standards of cleanliness and presentation.
  • Coordinate horticultural activities, including lawn maintenance, pathway upkeep, and leaf sweeping, in collaboration with other sections and departments.
  • Conduct routine cleaning, inspection, and maintenance of assigned plant and vehicles, adhering to transport policy and best practices.
  • Identify cost-effective opportunities to minimize the environmental impact of our operations.
  • Provide support to the Events Team for special event setup and teardown.

Requirements

  • Hold a relevant SVQ level 1 qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Have a basic understanding of horticultural practices.
  • Possess practical experience in horticultural and landscaping activities.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to health and safety practices.

Working Arrangements

This is a permanent, part-time position for 22.5 hours per week, working Mondays to Wednesdays. The salary is pro-rata for 22.5 hours, with a range of £12,000 to £13,000 per annum (full-time equivalent £21,000 to £21,000 per annum).
