Senior Liaison Psychiatrist

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join our Mental Health Liaison Team at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing specialist medical and psychiatric assessment and treatment to patients aged 17 and over, referred to the Mental Health Liaison Team from the Emergency Department and inpatient wards.
You will have a key role in supporting the wider nursing team and providing continuity of care across the week in the general hospital setting. Your expertise in working age adults' mental health, organic mental states, medically unexplained symptoms, the interplay between physical and mental health problems, and management of psychiatric crises will be invaluable in this role.
As a Consultant Psychiatrist, you will have the opportunity to develop your career, shape our strategy, and provide excellent patient care. You will be joining a team with a history of participating in nationally-recognised Liaison Psychiatry research and which is actively involved in the teaching and training of students from Brighton and Sussex Medical School, in addition to nursing and paramedic students.
Main Duties of the Job
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing specialist medical and psychiatric assessment and treatment to patients aged 17 and over
- Supporting the wider nursing team and providing continuity of care across the week in the general hospital setting
- Developing new care pathways and including integrated psychiatric care in line with the NHS Long Term Plan

We offer a range of benefits, including a Recruitment and Retention payment of £25,000, in addition to up to £8,000 relocation allowance. The RRP payment is paid in instalments, including £5,000 on appointment, £5,000 at 12 months, £6,500 at 30 months, and £8,500 at 48 months.
