Transportation Specialist

Somerset Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center is seeking a reliable and skilled Van Driver to join our team.
Job Summary:The Van Driver will be responsible for safely and efficiently operating a motor vehicle to transport patients and residents of our nursing home facility.
Key Responsibilities:- Operate a motor vehicle to transport patients and residents
- Assist ambulatory and non-ambulatory individuals enter and leave the vehicle
- Ensure passengers are safely seated inside the motor vehicle
- Secure residents' mobility devices such as walkers and wheelchairs
- Keep a record of each bus trip and the residents who attended
- Document the mileage and time for each bus trip
- Perform preventive maintenance functions such as checking lights, maintaining fluid levels, checking tire pressure, etc.
- Basic knowledge of methods and techniques used to load, secure, and unload passengers from a motor vehicle
- Skill in the operation and basic maintenance of assigned motor vehicle
- Ability to find geographic locations
- Ability to follow oral/written instructions and keep a record of activities
- Ability to lift, maneuver, and support materials of up to 80 pounds
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with residents and staff
- Possession of a valid driver's license
- Six to 12 months of work experience operating, loading, and unloading a motor vehicle
- Any equivalent combination of acceptable training and experience which has provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities stated above
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or experience working in long term care a plus
