Job Summary:

Main Responsibilities:

  • Compile and update elective theatre lists on iCS, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Manage patient bookings, ensuring patients are fully booked and notified of their appointment details.
  • Coordinate with surgical teams and General Management to ensure theatre capacity is utilized efficiently.
  • Lead responsibility for booking procedures, ensuring that theatre capacity is proactively and efficiently utilized.
  • Manage waiting lists, ensuring that patients are booked in chronological order or in order of clinical urgency.
  • Collaborate with other specialties to schedule complex multi-surgeon cases.
  • Monitor and report on scheduling utilization and case mix, ensuring that capacity planning is informed by accurate data.

Requirements:

  • NVQ 4 in customer care or equivalent qualification or experience.
  • Experience in a patient/customer-facing role.
  • NHS experience.
  • Understanding of confidentiality and data protection act.
  • Knowledge of booking patient appointments data recording system.
  • Knowledge of RTT pathways and targets.
  • Accurate data entry and keyboard skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to type to a reasonable speed to achieve at least 30 words per minute.
  • Strong IT skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including a good telephone manner.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and work on own initiative.
  • Excellent organizational and numerical skills.
