Mechanical Design Engineer

Your new company is a leading M&E contractor with a strong pipeline of work, seeking a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team.
Key Responsibilities- Design mechanical systems in conjunction with fire strategy reports, local building regulations, and planning authority requirements.
- Attend design team meetings and collaborate with colleagues to deliver projects.
- Conduct site surveys of existing installations where applicable.
- Produce heating and cooling load calculations using industry software.
- Select and size mechanical equipment, including AHUs, FCUs, extract fans, pumps, chillers, ASHP, boilers, and plate heat exchangers.
- Design and size above ground drainage systems and domestic hot and cold-water equipment.
- Produce pipe and duct sizing calculations using industry software or desktop spreadsheets.
- Design and select firefighting sprinkler and pumping systems.
- Prepare design reports, presentations, and risk assessments.
- Detail mechanical layouts and schematics for build.
- Meet project delivery deadlines and produce detailed design and survey reports.
- Extensive experience in mechanical engineering building services for construction.
- Mechanical engineering degree or equivalent.
- Good knowledge of CIBSE, IEC, BS, IS, and EN Irish, UK standards or ASHRAE.
- Working knowledge of design software such as Hevacomp, Carrier HAP, CyMap, and IES/TAS.
- Ability to work in a rapidly changing environment and communicate effectively with colleagues.
A competitive salary of £40,000 to £65,000 and the opportunity to work with a leading M&E contractor.
