Indigenous Health Director

The Director of Indigenous Health will lead the development and implementation of an Indigenous health plan that aligns with St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton's strategic priorities, equity, diversity, and inclusion plan, and multi-year accessibility plan.

Responsibilities- Develop and implement an Indigenous health plan that reflects the diverse perspectives and needs of Indigenous communities in the Hamilton and surrounding areas.
- Build and lead an Indigenous Health team at St. Joseph's and act as Indigenous Practice Lead across the hospital.
- Establish and co-lead a Truth and Reconciliation Action Council to coordinate and lead projects related to truth and reconciliation actions.
- Develop and implement an Indigenous Cultural Safety Training plan for St. Joseph's that is coordinated with the hospital's EDI training plans.
We are seeking a highly qualified individual with a strong background in Indigenous health, leadership, and cultural competency. The ideal candidate will possess:
- A minimum of 5 years' work-related experience in Indigenous health or a related field.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of Indigenous cultures, histories, and experiences.
- Experience working directly with Indigenous communities and local knowledge of historical and contemporary issues and aspirations.
- Proven leadership experience with the ability to generate ideas, improve processes, and implement new roles.
- Excellent communication, consultation, and facilitation skills.
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills.
