We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Retail Financial Controller to join our team in a Group capacity. As a key member of our finance team, you will play a critical role in overseeing the financial operations, teams, and reporting across our retail markets.
Key Responsibilities- Financial Leadership: Provide strategic financial leadership to our retail teams, ensuring the integrity and speed of financial reporting, compliance with regulations, and quality of local finance teams.
- Market Review: Conduct a market-by-market review of group retail management accounts, including P&L, Balance Sheet, Capex, and Cashflow, identifying and correcting any issues in a timely manner.
- Finance Commentary: Prepare a monthly finance commentary to cover the consolidated Retail P&L, explaining key variances in sales and profitability and providing market-level insight for the Group Finance Directors and Retail Leadership.
- Best Practice Adoption: Ensure that best practice is adopted in all markets, focusing on reporting quality, efficiency of key financial processes, and working towards a finance transformation by leveraging systems, technology, and automation.
- Accounting and Reporting Guidance: Provide accounting and reporting guidance to local teams, ensuring standards are consistently followed.
- Forecasting and Budgeting: Work alongside the Retail, Digital, and Brand Finance Business Partners to coordinate and review periodic sales forecast updates, annual budgets, and ad-hoc financial modeling requests.
- Intercompany Transactions: Work alongside the Global Manufacturing Finance Controller to review the impact of intercompany transactions, such as stock/other purchases, cost of goods, and internal pricing.
- Sales and Admin Costs: Analyze and report on Sales & Admin costs within the Retail entities, highlighting opportunities for profit growth to the relevant Global Business Partners.
- Compliance and Governance: Ensure that in every market, there is clear accountability for compliance with all relevant financial regulations, including tax laws, accounting standards, and corporate policies.
- Finance Business Partnering: Guide and encourage local finance teams to adopt the UK best practice model for finance business partnering and operational support.
- Ad-Hoc Projects: Support the Group Finance Director and wider business on significant ad-hoc project work as required.
- Qualifications: Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
- Experience: Experience in high-volume, vertically integrated retail and digital operations, with a managerial background and experience working within a retail finance team.
- Skills: Excellent communication skills, relationship building, and experience with Retail systems and technology-driven process improvement.
- Language: Proficient in Excel/Google Sheets and the creation of engaging presentations in Google Slides.
- Travel: Willingness to travel abroad.
