About the Role

Dreweatts 1759, a leading auction house, is seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to lead our Interiors Department. As Head of Interiors Department, you will be responsible for managing and compiling our monthly Interior auctions, providing a unique opportunity to take ownership of a department and drive business growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Auction Management: Oversee the entire auction process, from pre-sale to post-sale, ensuring seamless execution and exceptional client service.
  • Financial Management: Develop and manage budgets to meet financial targets, driving revenue growth and profitability.
  • Client Relationship Management: Foster strong relationships with clients, vendors, and buyers, providing exceptional service and ensuring client satisfaction.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and inspire a small team of support staff, promoting a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
  • Business Development: Develop and implement strategies to increase auction accessibility, enhance department brand, and drive business growth through consignments, partnerships, and relationships.
  • Market Analysis: Stay informed about market trends and developments, ensuring the department remains competitive and innovative.
  • Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Work closely with other departments to ensure a cohesive approach to business development and client service.
Requirements
  • Education: Graduate in Art History, Fine Arts, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years' experience in cataloguing and auction house administration, with a strong understanding of works of art, ceramics, furniture, and pictures at a low to mid-market level.
  • Skills: Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, excellent written and verbal communication skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, and ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
  • Personal Qualities: Happy to work both hands-on in a warehouse handling objects and within an office environment, with a strong passion for the art and antiques industry.
