Senior/Principal Nuclear Safety Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior/Principal Nuclear Safety Engineer to join our team at Babcock International Group. This role offers a unique opportunity to support the design and build of new submarine maintenance facilities at our Devonport site.

About the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior/Principal Nuclear Safety Engineer to join our team at Babcock International Group. You will have a key role in providing technical advice on nuclear safety assessment processes and policy, ensuring compliance with statutory legislation, and delivering nuclear safety cases.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing nuclear safety processes and standards, as well as acting as an intelligent customer for 3rd party deliverables assuring the output is fit for purpose.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical advice on nuclear safety assessment processes and policy
  • Ensure compliance with statutory legislation
  • Deliver nuclear safety cases
  • Develop and implement nuclear safety processes and standards
  • Act as an intelligent customer for 3rd party deliverables assuring the output is fit for purpose

You will work closely with senior stakeholders to ensure the safe operation of our nuclear submarine facilities and support the business by providing expert knowledge around safety engineering.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need a background in nuclear/radiological safety, good interpersonal skills, and be competent in verbal and written communication. A degree level education in an Engineering or Scientific discipline is also required, with Chartered Engineer status being desirable.
