Job Title: Ergonomics and Safety Expert

£65,000 - £85,000 per annum

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Ergonomics and Safety Expert to join our team in Plymouth. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the design and implementation of safe and efficient systems, processes, and facilities.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Provide professional support to the Principal Engineer (Human Factors) on all aspects of Human Factors including design, safety assessment, and human performance.
  • Undertake human factors assessment work to support the development of ergonomic design solutions, safety assessments, and the verification/validation of human performance elements of high-hazard systems, processes, and facilities.
  • Develop and implement scopes of work, cost estimates, and programmes for human factors assessment work to be undertaken in support of business programmes.
Requirements:
  • First degree in Psychology plus MSc in Occupational Psychology, Applied Psychology, or Industrial Psychology, or Ergonomics-based discipline or an engineering degree with high psychological/ergonomics content (or equivalent).
  • Significant experience working within high-hazard process industries (e.g. nuclear, defence, or petrochemical)
  • Sound understanding of nuclear safety assessment principles and safety case production
  • Familiarity with both HF qualitative and quantitative HRA techniques (e.g. HEART, THERP, APJ)
  • Ability to clearly understand engineering concepts and communicate effectively with engineers and other scientific disciplines on human factors-related matters
