Job Title: Strategic Buyer - Automotive Manufacturing

We are seeking a highly skilled Strategic Buyer to join our Procurement team at the Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC) in Coventry.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of project-related procurement aligned with the Built Environment and Industrial Growth Industrial Sectors. This includes ensuring timely, cost-effective, and high-quality delivery of projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work closely with project leads to understand future procurement demands and contribute to the overall Procurement Plan.
  • Deliver purchasing and subcontracting priorities, applying procurement, commercial, and contractual expertise to implement the strategy and achieve project milestones.
  • Develop and implement innovative approaches to supply arrangements to enhance services provided, while minimizing cost and commercial risk.
  • Lead on key procurement decisions affecting the MTC's spend areas, responding to day-to-day queries and advice from key stakeholders.
  • Identify and lead on specific procurement projects, tenders, and contracts, managing all steps in the procurement process.
Requirements
  • Extensive experience in negotiating and working with third-party agreements with major organizations.
  • Ability to negotiate with suppliers and manage complex contracts and tenders.
  • Significant commercial acumen, focused on organizational deliverables.
  • Able to apply risk management principles in relation to customers and key stakeholders.
  • Significant procurement experience in a medium to large organization.
  • Procurement practice at strategic and operational levels, including tender and subcontract management.
  • CIPS professional qualifications and membership, or a bachelor's degree.
