Strategic Procurement Specialist

The Manufacturing Technology Centre is seeking a highly skilled Strategic Procurement Specialist to join their team in Coventry. As a key member of the Procurement team, you will be responsible for all aspects of project-related procurement aligned with the Built Environment and Industrial Growth sectors.
Key Responsibilities:- Work closely with project leads to understand future procurement demands and feed into the overall Procurement Plan for strategic procurement.
- Develop and implement innovative approaches to supply arrangements to enhance services provided, whilst minimising cost and commercial risk.
- Take the lead on key procurement decisions that affect the MTC's spend areas / customer deliverables, responding to day-to-day queries and advice from key stakeholders within the organisation.
- Identify and lead on specific procurement projects, tenders and contracts, and take operational responsibility for the projects and tenders.
- Show significant commercial acumen, focused on the bigger organisational deliverables, awareness of how sub-contract and purchasing management impacts the bottom line.
- Significant procurement experience in a medium to large organisation in either the public, private or third sectors.
- Procurement practice at strategic and operational levels, including tender & sub-contract management.
- CIPS professional qualifications & membership, or a bachelor's degree.
Desirable Skills/Qualifications/Experience:
- Demonstrated purchasing/commercial experience in a variety of challenging commercial/purchasing/supply chain environments.
- Electronic procurement system experience.
- Ability to negotiate contractual documents and recognise/mitigate risk.
