About the Role

University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly skilled individual to lead the Quality Assurance function for aseptic preparation of medicines within our organisation.

We provide aseptically prepared medicines under a MHRA Manufacturer's Specials Licence and also under Section 10 exemption in three operational aseptic units. Our Quality Control laboratory supports the aseptic service provision by providing environmental monitoring and testing for the Pharmacy aseptic units and UHDB Radiopharmacy.

The successful candidate will play a critical leadership role in ensuring that medicines supply is safe, effective, and compliant with regulatory standards. They will be responsible for supporting the local implementation and operation of the Quality Management System across various areas, including Pharmacy Aseptic Services, Pharmacy wholesale dealing, and UHDB Nuclear Medicine Services.

Main Responsibilities

The post holder will be responsible for:

  • Supporting the local implementation and operation of the Quality Management System
  • Ensuring compliance with regulatory agencies, including the Medicines and Healthcare Regulatory Agency (MHRA)
  • Deputising for the Quality Assurance Manager across the full range of duties and responsibilities
  • Ensuring compliance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and other relevant regulations

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A science degree or equivalent
  • Post qualification specialist knowledge and experience to postgraduate level
  • Microbiological expertise to degree or equivalent level through experience and training

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

  • PTQA MSc
  • Member of GPhC, RSC or RSB as appropriate
