We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Maritime Consultant to join our team at Mercator Media Ltd. As a Senior Maritime Consultant, you will play a key role in providing expert advice and guidance to our clients on maritime-related matters.
About the RoleThe successful candidate will have a strong background in maritime consultancy, regulatory, or port environments, with a minimum of 5 years' experience. You will have a relevant university degree and a maritime domain background, such as a mariner, harbour master, or VTS.
As a Senior Maritime Consultant, you will be responsible for:
- Applying your technical knowledge to analyze potential impacts to shipping and navigation from proposed operations/developments
- Delivering assessments of navigational risk and authoring report chapters
- Managing projects, including escalating risks where appropriate
- Contributing to business development activities, including supporting with tender submissions
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- At least 5 years' professional experience in a maritime consultancy, regulatory, or port environment
- A relevant university degree (e.g. science, engineering, geography, or risk/mathematics)
- Maritime domain background (e.g. mariner, harbour master, VTS)
- Self-motivation, passion, and appetite for a challenge
- Excellent computer literacy and competency with MS office suite – particularly MS Word and Excel
- Excellent report writing, English language, and oral communication skills
- Ability to work independently with initiative and as part of a team and with clients and stakeholders
- Detailed knowledge of the Port Marine Safety Code
- Experience of drafting, reviewing, and operating port/harbour Safety Management Systems
- Experience of co-ordinating or undertaking marine technical reports and navigation risk assessments
