Perinatal Psychiatrist

We are seeking a Specialty Grade Psychiatrist to join our Perinatal Psychiatry team in Barnet. The successful candidate will work alongside two substantive consultants and receive supervision from one of the consultants.
Main Responsibilities- Conduct mental health assessments and reviews, as well as domiciliary assessments as required.
- Support clinical governance projects, particularly QI and audits within the service.
- Keep up with administration, including clinic letters, entering Dialog + care plans and reviews, and risk assessments on the electronic patient record system.
- Assist with serious incident investigations and complaints if requested.
- Keep up to date with mandatory training.

Person Specification- Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) and a license to practice.
- Membership of Royal College of Psychiatrists or equivalent higher qualification in psychiatry.
- Training up to date to be an approved trainer/clinical supervisor in line with GMC recognition and approval of trainers which is overseen by the LETB.
- Trained as an Educational Supervisor for doctors in training.
- Training as a Consultant mentor.
- Knowledge and observance of the requirements and duties of a doctor laid down by the GMC in Good Medical Practice.
- Interest and commitment in perinatal psychiatry.
- Experience in the assessment and treatment of complex clinical cases involving severe and enduring mental illness and significant risk histories and the ability to assertively engage and manage such cases.
- Knowledge of the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, and safeguarding practices.
- Experience in developing policies and protocols.
- Experience in workplace-based assessments of doctors in training.
- Knowledge of clinical commissioning and external organisations that interface with an NHS Trust.
- Teaching and supervision skills for undergraduate medical students, doctors in training, and multi-professional staff.
- A special interest or willingness to develop one in an area which helps to meet the needs of the Trust.
- Experience in undertaking clinical audit, investigating serious incidents, and handling complaints.
The salary for this role is £59,175 to £95,400 a year, plus £2,162 of London Zone waiting per year.
