Beamline Simulation Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual to join our team as a Beamline Simulation Specialist for an Industrial Placement opportunity in Elemental Analysis. This role will involve working on the development and optimization of muon beamlines and detectors, with a focus on simulation and analysis.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement simulation models for muon beamlines and detectors
- Optimize beamline and detector performance using simulation tools
- Collaborate with the ISIS Muon Group to integrate simulation results with experimental data
- Contribute to the development of new simulation software packages and tools
- Currently enrolled on an undergraduate degree course in Physics, Chemistry, or a related subject
- Ability to commence employment in summer
- Good communication skills and ability to work in a team
- Basic knowledge of programming languages (preferably Python or equivalent)
- Advanced knowledge of programming languages (preferably Python or equivalent)
- Experience with simulation software packages (e.g. PHITS, GEANT4)
- Problem-solving abilities and willingness to learn new skills
