Beamline Simulation Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual to join our team as a Beamline Simulation Specialist for an Industrial Placement opportunity in Elemental Analysis. This role will involve working on the development and optimization of muon beamlines and detectors, with a focus on simulation and analysis.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and optimize muon beamline simulations using advanced software packages
- Collaborate with the ISIS Muon Group to design and implement new detector systems
- Conduct data analysis and interpretation to inform beamline and detector design
- Work with the team to integrate simulation and analysis results into the data analysis package
- Contribute to the development of new simulation and analysis tools and techniques
- Currently enrolled on an undergraduate degree course and returning to university/studies to complete your undergraduate degree following the placement
- Required or have requested to take an industrial placement year
- Have the right to live and work in the UK for the duration of the placement
- Able to commence employment in summer
- A-level (or equivalent) Physics and/or Chemistry
- Undergraduate level understanding of Physics or Chemistry or a related subject
- Basic knowledge of programming languages (preferably Python or equivalent)
- Good communication skills and demonstrate good team working capabilities
- The willingness to develop new skills, both technical and non-technical
- Interest in learning new simulation software packages with any previous experience
- Basic understanding of any elemental analysis technique
- Advanced knowledge of programming languages (preferably Python or equivalent)
- Open-minded and flexible in relation to the type of work assigned to them
- Problem-solving abilities
- Willing to undertake travel on business, within and outside of the UK
